Felipe Coronel , es un rapero, MC peruano-estadounidense, que además de hacer música rap, ejerce como militante político.

La mayoría de sus canciones se centran en la desigualdad social y cubren una amplia variedad de temas como por ejemplo, la pobreza marginal que asola las ciudades y las desigualdades socioeconómicas que tienen lugar dentro y fuera de los EEUU . Technique protesta además contra el encarcelamiento de Mumia Abu-Jamal, contra la militarización de la sociedad estadounidense y la fuerte industria estadounidense que la respalda, así como contra la complicidad de los Estados Unidos en los ataques del martes 11 de septiembre del 2001, la incansable influencia de los medios a favor de las fuerzas políticas de derechas y las multinacionales o el racismo que muestran tanto unos como otros, especialmente hacia las personas negras de los Estados Unidos. Según Immortal Technique:

A pesar de que en su día, al menos una de las grandes discográficas le ofreció un contrato que garantizara una mayor comercialización de su obra, Coronel rechazó la oferta para preservar así su independencia, ya que teme que pudieran ponerle trabas ante el fortísimo cariz político de sus letras. Immortal Technique ha declarado en más de una ocasión su deseo de controlar sus producciones y se ha mostrado contrario a la situación actual, en la que por lo general, son las compañías discográficas quienes sacan mayor provecho al trabajo de los artistas y quienes determinan cuál será la distribución de las mismas. El rapero de origen peruano es el presidente de Viper Records, la discográfica que distribuye su música. Con el fin de ampliar las miras, será Babygrande Records quien distribuya su próximo trabajo.



"Lo que te puedo decir por mi propia experiencia es que a muchos artistas les gustaría hacer canciones con mensaje y denuncia social, incluso los más comerciales. La industria y las compañías los controlan, les dicen lo que no pueden hacer. Cuando firmas un contrato, pasas a ser propiedad de ellos, a ser esclavos de esas compañías; ellos son quienes deciden qué clases de canciones saldrán en tu álbum y de qué manera te presentarán al público. A ellos no les importa la cultura ni la condición de la gente. Si la gente ve que yo hago cualquier tema que quiero, hablando de lo que pasa en el mundo, es porque yo soy independiente. No tengo nadie que me controle.

Yo me considero un artista revolucionario no sólo por la música. No lo sería tanto si, aun haciendo esta clase de música, estuviera controlado por una compañía grande. Una vez que consigues tu público, te quieren convertir y tienes que dejar de decir ciertas cosas en tus canciones. Al igual que el imperio americano y la Unión Europea oprimen a África, a Latinoamérica y a toda Asia, las grandes compañías han robado todos los recursos del underground, que es el Tercer Mundo, de donde han salido todos los grandes artistas. No podemos considerar nuestra cultura como un movimiento si toda la propiedad intelectual pertenece a la gente que nos oprime."[1]​
