Kirsten Elizabeth Rutnik Gillibrand es una política estadounidense del Partido Demócrata y senadora del estado de Nueva York. Previamente fue la primera mujer representante del distrito 20 de Nueva York y la primera demócrata para representar al distrito desde que Edward W. Pattison dejó el cargo en 1979.

El 23 de enero de 2009, Gillibrand fue nombrada por el Gobernador David Paterson para ocupar el escaño en el Senado de los Estados Unidos que dejó vacante Hillary Rodham Clinton, quien asumió el cargo de Secretaria de Estado en la administración de Obama. Gillibrand es considerada como una demócrata moderada, apelando a los Republicanos y Demócratas conservadores en el norte del Estado de Nueva York. Gillibrand fue miembro de la Coalición Perro Azul durante su mandato en la Cámara de Representantes.

Ha estado a la cabeza de la marcha de mujeres contra el presidente Trump y ha apoyado activamente la campaña #Me Too.[1]​ También respalda la campaña "Chinga la Migra" surgida en 2018 para abolir la ICE .[2]​
