Mary Stevenson Cassatt fue una pintora y grabadora estadounidense. Aunque nacida en Pensilvania, pasó gran parte de su vida adulta en Francia, donde forjó amistad con Edgar Degas y se incorporó al movimiento impresionista. Cassatt pintó, principalmente, imágenes representando la vida social y privada de las mujeres, con especial énfasis en los lazos entre ellas y sus hijos.

Mary Cassatt fue descrita por Gustave Geffroy como una de «las tres grandes damas» del impresionismo junto a Marie Bracquemond y Berthe Morisot.[1]​ Wikipedia
