'Abu Jafar Muhammad ibn Alí al Rida ibn Musa ibn Jafar al-Jawad at-Taqi o, más sencillamente, 'Muhammad al-Yawad o 'Muhammad at-Taqi ' fue el noveno imán chií imamita.

El califa Mamun le dio en matrimonio a su hija Umm-Fadl . A la muerte del imán Ali ibn Musa en 818, Muhammad tenía 9 años y no fue bien aceptada la subida al imanato de un menor, por lo que una parte de los chiíes reconoció como imán a Ahmad ibn Musa, hermano de Ali al Rida, otro grupo se unió a los Wakifa que reconocían como último imán a Musa al-Kazim, y otros se hicieron suníes o zaydíes. En 828 nació su hijo Ali ibn Muhammad, de una concubina y no de su mujer. En 830 se formalizó el matrimonio con la hija del califa y la pareja salió de Medina, yendo a vivir a Bagdad cerca del califa, que les había llamado. En 831 el imán hizo la peregrinación a La Meca y al final de ésta volvió a Medina. Wikipedia
