Alison Bechdel es una historietista estadounidense.[3]​ Su obra Fun Home. Una familia tragicómica fue finalista del Premio del Círculo de Críticos Nacional del Libro y elegida uno de los mejores libros del año 2006 por las revistas Time, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, People, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, The Village Voice y San Francisco Chronicle.[4]​[5]​

Entre los años 1983 y 2008 publicó la tira cómica Dykes to Watch Out For , donde a través de su álter ego Mo reflejaba la complejidad de las relaciones lésbicas y los estereotipos que se asocian a ellas.[6]​ En el año 2012 publicó ¿Eres mi madre?, una historieta autobiográfica centrada en la figura de su madre.[7]​

El crítico literario y periodista Dwight Garner destacó la influencia que había tenido Dykes to Watch Out For en una generación de lesbianas.[8]​ Bechdel no se considera una activista política,[9]​ aunque en sus historietas se muestra la preocupación que le produce la relación entre los ámbitos político y privado.[10]​ Wikipedia
