Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve Gowda es un político indio, que ha sido el 14º primer ministro de la República de India y el 14º ministro en jefe del estado de Karnataka .

Nació en una familia agrícola, ganó su primer escaño en la asamblea del estado de Karnataka en 1962, llegando a ser jefe ministro de Karnataka. A finales de 1970 Deve Gowda agranda su carrera en el partido Janata y fue una importante figura en la reunificación de sucesor, el partido Janata Jal, luego de que el grupo original se separara en 1980. In the early nineties, he, who likes being called mannina maga (son of the soil), was persuaded by the then Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao to attend the World Economic Forum, in Devos. According to Deve Gowda Rao wanted a non-Congress non-BJP chief minister to attend as a representative to encourage foreign investment. In 1996, a year after the MOU was signed, he became the PM of India for 10 months, heading a coalition of regional parties.
