I don't have a family, and I'm not particularly interested in having kids, so in a way perhaps the work, the music I make is some kind of alternative to the idea of having a family, or having progeny. Your work, your albums, your music becomes in a way my progeny. The thing that will live on after I go.

Steven Wilson: Frases de música
Explorar las citas interesantes en música..I love CDs, and for some kinds of music - classical for example - it is better than vinyl. But the problem with the CD and digital downloads is that there's nothing you can really cherish or treasure. Owning vinyl is like having a beautiful painting hanging in your living room. It's something you can hold, pore over the lyrics and immerse yourself in the art work. I thought it was just a nostalgic thing, but it can't be if kids too young to remember vinyl are enjoying that kind of experience.

...people call me workaholic a lot, because a do a lot of work, a produce solo music. I think part of that, part of that driving, part of that motivation, comes from the fear of mortality, the idea that one day, soon, sometime in the next fifty years, I’m gonna cease to exist. That’s I think about a lot, but of course it’s also in the back of my mind when I write any song.
There‘s something slightly disturbing about people who create extraordinary music. It‘s almost like were you tapping into part of their mind which other people don‘t tap into. This is my theory. So there is a very thin line, if you look at the great artists, someone like Picasso or Mozart. They are on the verge of insanity, on the verge of being extremely disturbed, psychopathic people. But in a way they‘ve chosen to channel those impulses into creativity. I guess that there is a very thin line between channelling them in creativity and destruction.

I think part of the artist’s responsibility is to, in a way, expose themselves. And when you do that, I think you’re holding up a mirror to the people who listen to your music. That mirror is of course an image of yourself, but you’re asking the people that listen to the music to see if they recognize themselves when they look in that mirror.

“La música más triste es en realidad la más hermosa.”
I’ve always said the most sad music it is actually the most beautiful…
