Viasa

Viasa es un escritor legendario de la antigüedad hinduista, cuyo nombre verdadero es Krishna-Dwaipayana.[1]​

Es el cuarto miembro del rishi parampara de la escuela Advaita, en la que Shankará Acharia es la figura principal.

Se le llama también Veda Vyasa para explicar por qué más del 90 % del texto tanto del Sama-veda como del Iáyur-veda son copiados del Rig-veda: Viasa habría ‘dividido’ o reorganizado el Rig-veda [2]​ en aquellos otros dos textos, para facilitar su comprensión o para facilitar el recuerdo de sus mantras.

El texto épico Majabhárata afirma haber sido escrito por Viasa.

Tradicionalmente también se considera que Viasa fue autor de todos los Upanishads y de todos los Puranas .

Vyasa’s curse to the first widowed wife of his half brother on the son to be born to them. His mother [Satyavati] had asked him to produce heirs to the throne with the two widows of his half-brother. The first princess closed her eyes as Vyasa was in fearful ascetic condition when he slept with her. In due time Dhritarshtra was born blind. Quoted in p. 58.

Vyasa’s curse to the second widowed wife of his half brother on the son to be born to them. The second widowed princess was frightened at the ugly sight of Vyasa during their union. Thus, Pandu, a pale looking son was born to them. Quoted in P.58.
