“En ese entonces (cuando fue nombrada directora) era muy raro que una mujer dirigiera una institución científica. (…) Pero las mujeres tienen que trabajar el doble para llegar a ese nivel; por lo general, son responsables de resolver los problemas relacionados con sus hijos o el hogar, y también hay un cierto nivel de sesgo de género que las mujeres deben superar, especialmente en ese entonces ya que era así, por lo que fue una novedad tener una mujer directora. No fue fácil. Pero donde otras personas ven limitaciones y dificultades, yo veo una oportunidad.”
