Lawrence George Durrell fue un escritor británico, hermano del también escritor y zoólogo Gerald Durrell. Escribió biografías, poesía, obras de teatro, de viaje y novelas. Durrell se resistió a que lo asociasen con el Reino Unido y prefirió ser considerado cosmopolita. Póstumamente se descubrió que en realidad nunca tuvo la ciudadanía británica.[1] Se considera que su obra maestra es la tetralogía llamada El cuarteto de Alejandría. Wikipedia
