Mark Haddon es un escritor, ilustrador, pintor y profesor inglés.

Ha escrito numerosos libros para niños y un poemario. Trabajó durante un tiempo con personas con deficiencias físicas y mentales, lo que le ayudó a crear su primera novela El curioso incidente del perro a medianoche , ganadora del premio Whitbread y el Commonwealth. Antes de escribir este libro, ya había escrito cuentos para niños y también los había ilustrado. También participaba en la creación de guiones para series y películas de TV.

Actualmente da clases de literatura creativa en la Universidad de Oxford y en la fundación Arvon, y se dedica a la pintura abstracta. Está casado con Sos Eltis.
