Leonard Bernstein fue un compositor, pianista y director de orquesta estadounidense. Fue el primer director de orquesta nacido en los Estados Unidos que obtuvo fama mundial, célebre por haber dirigido la Orquesta Filarmónica de Nueva York, por sus Conciertos para jóvenes en la televisión de la década de 1960 y por sus múltiples composiciones, entre ellas West Side Story , Candide y Un día en Nueva York .
